Sufism: A Divine Path to Peace and Unity
Sufism: A Divine Path to Peace and Unity
By: Mukadam Habeebullah Olukolu-ZB Abolade, a Practicing Sufi and Spiritual Messenger.
I am a Sufi — not just by name, but by practice, by calling, and by divine assignment. I have been sent as a Sufi to remind the world of the spiritual treasures hidden within our religions, especially Islam, and to bring attention to the core values that transcend ritual: wisdom, peace, and divine knowledge.
Islam: A Religion of Peace and Divine Wisdom
Islam is not merely a set of rituals and doctrines; it is a complete way of life inspired by divine wisdom. At its core, Islam is a message of peace — both inner and outward. It is a path that connects the heart of man to the heart of the Divine, urging us to submit to God's will and to live harmoniously with creation.
Qur'an 2:208 says:
> "O you who have believed, enter into Islam completely [and perfectly] and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy."
This verse teaches that entering Islam means entering into peace — in thought, word, and action. A true Muslim becomes an ambassador of peace on earth.
Sufism: The Heartbeat of Islam
Sufism is the spiritual essence of Islam — it polishes the soul, opens the heart, and elevates the mind to witness divine realities. It is through Sufism that we understand the Lataif (subtle centers of consciousness), the maqamat (spiritual stations), and haqiqa (the truth behind appearances).
As Sheikh Ahmad Tijani (RA) said:
> "The greatest treasure is to recognize God in your heart and reflect Him in your actions."
A true Sufi does not just seek knowledge — he seeks transformation. He is a carrier of peace, unity, and divine light in a dark world.
Peace as a Sufi Mandate
Anyone who claims to be a Sufi but does not preach peace and unity is still a Salik — a seeker still traveling on the path and has not yet arrived at the station of divine presence (Maqam al-Fana).
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
> "The best among you are those who bring peace wherever they go."
— [Hadith - Musnad Ahmad]
And the Bible echoes this truth in Matthew 5:9:
> “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.”
("Children of God.” This context will be explain in future post.
Why did the words; Children of God are used in Bible)
Peace is not just a message — it is the essence of the Divine. To walk in peace is to walk with God.
God Is Peace
One of the beautiful names of Allah is As-Salaam — The Source of Peace.
Qur’an 59:23 says:
> "He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Source of Peace..."
As-Salaam is not just a name; it is a state we are called to embody. Every Sufi who claims divine connection must first be established in peace — for peace is the throne upon which divine knowledge is seated.
Say Peace. Act Peace. Be Peace.
As Imam Al-Ghazali wrote:
> “If the soul is at peace, it sees the Truth in everything. If the heart is pure, the light of God reflects on it like the moon upon a still lake.”
So let this be our call to the world:
Let the Christian, the Muslim, the Jew, the seeker, and the saint all meet at the point where God is — and God is Peace.
Let us dissolve divisions in the ocean of Divine Unity (Tawhid).
Let us replace debates with devotion, and judgments with love.
Final Reflection
If you call yourself a Sufi, remember: your highest duty is to become a mirror of God’s Peace. Preach peace, act peace, and breathe peace — only then will you transcend from a seeker (Salik) to a knower (Arif), from a traveler to a resident in the presence of the Most High.
“Peace be upon those who follow the guidance.”
— Qur’an 20:47
